World of Hyatt Announces Exclusive Partnership with Under Canvas

Following hot on the heels of partnerships between established hospitality brands and glamping operators earlier this year, World of Hyatt has announced an alliance with Under Canvas that offers their clients access to luxury glamping resorts across the USA.

Under Canvas operates 13 “safari-inspired camps” outside of national parks and “adventurous destinations,” including Acadia, Glacier, Moab, Yellowstone, Yosemite and Zion, according to Matt Gaghen, CEO of Under Canvas.

Most notably, Under Canvas operates what they claim are the “first-ever DarkSky-certified resorts in the world” across Utah and Arizona. Dark Sky Parks minimize artificial light, offering visitors an unparalleled view of the night sky and greater immersion in nature.

The focus on immersion seems to be one of Under Canvas’ key selling points, as the resorts somewhat unusually don’t offer WIFI in their camps. Except, that is, at their new (and very luxurious) 50-tent ULUM Moab site, which is being heavily promoted as part of this new alliance.

ULUM Moab was recently described in Cosmopolitan as “fully immersed in nature, but with all the modern amenities and comforts of a luxury hotel.” With its temperature-controlled lobby, lounge, restaurant, and on-site pools, ULUM Moab could be a glimpse of what’s to come as established hotel brands move into the glamping market.

“This exciting collaboration with Hyatt will further our goal of connecting more people with extraordinary places, people, and the planet by enhancing access to the outdoors,” said Matt Gaghen in an announcement of the partnership.

The alliance will allow guests to book these glamping stays directly through Hyatt channels, with World of Hyatt members able to earn and redeem points on outdoor, adventurous accommodation.

“Travelers are looking for new and unique experiences to reconnect with nature in off-the-beaten-path locations,” said Mark Vondrasek, Chief Commercial Officer, Hyatt, in the announcement. “By adding these luxury outdoor camps to World of Hyatt, we are bringing more memorable travel experiences for our guests and members.”

This latest partnership marks yet another step towards the mainstreaming of glamping and highlights the confidence that traditional hospitality brands have in this once-niche segment.
